BMW G310 RR Limited Edition: BMW Motorrad has unveiled a new avatar of its popular sports bike in the Indian market. The company recently launched the BMW G310 RR Limited Edition, priced at ₹2.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, only 310 units of this special edition will be sold, making it a truly exclusive and collector’s item for those seeking something unique for their garage.
What’s different about the BMW G310 RR Limited Edition?
The biggest highlight of the new limited edition G310 RR is its special design. The bike is available in two color schemes – Cosmic Black and Polar White, both featuring red and blue graphics for a sportier look. Each unit carries a unique “1/310” badge, further emphasizing its exclusivity. The design of this edition is inspired by the high-end BMW S 1000 RR. However, the engine and performance remain identical to the standard model. This strategy demonstrates that BMW can enhance a bike’s “premium appeal” even with purely cosmetic upgrades.
Engine and Performance
Despite being a special edition, the engine remains the same powerful 312.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit. This engine generates 34 bhp of power and 27.3 Nm of torque. The gearbox is a 6-speed unit with an anti-hopping clutch. The bike offers four riding modes – Track, Sport, Urban, and Rain. The suspension setup comprises a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is provided for braking. The bike weighs 174 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 11 liters. In short, the performance and ride quality are identical to the standard version.
Price and Sales Strategy
The company has priced this limited edition at ₹2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), approximately ₹18,000 more than the standard version. This pricing strategy directly targets customers who appreciate collector’s edition motorcycles. Along with the launch, the company announced that a three-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty will be provided as standard. Additionally, customers can opt for an extended warranty. The limited production run of only 310 units makes it even more exclusive.
Market Impact and Competition
The Indian mid-segment sports bike market is already highly competitive, with offerings like the TVS Apache RR 310. The Apache RR 310 was recently updated, making it even more powerful. Therefore, this limited-edition version from BMW will primarily appeal to customers seeking a unique design and premium brand image. However, in terms of features, it doesn’t offer any significant advantages over its competitors.
