Hyundai EV plan: Hyundai Motor India has revealed its future electric strategy in India. The company has decided to rapidly expand its EV range over the next five years. Under this, more than 6 electric vehicles, the first hybrid model and several new ICE cars will be introduced by 2030. The move will further strengthen Hyundai’s hold in the fast-growing EV market in India.
Hyundai EV plan: Roadmap of 26 new cars in India

Hyundai aims to launch 26 new cars in the Indian market by 2030. A large portion of these will remain ICE (petrol-diesel) vehicles to cater to customers who are still unwilling to shift to EVs. Also the company will bring 6 new electric cars that will cover the premium SUV, hatchback and sedan segments. With this strategy, Hyundai will be able to offer customers options in every budget and every segment. These models will come with new designs, connected car technology and advanced safety features.
Strengthening EV charging infrastructure
The company has made it clear that EV launches will only succeed if the charging network is reliable. For this reason, Hyundai is planning to install fast charging stations across the country. These stations will be located on highways, dealerships and major urban centers. This will reduce the biggest problem of customers – range anxiety – to a great extent. Home and office charging solutions will also be provided for EV adopters.
Introduction of hybrid segment
Hyundai is going to enter the hybrid segment in India for the first time. Hybrid cars will be the perfect choice for customers who are not yet ready for an EV but want better mileage and lower emissions. The hybrid model will have an electric motor along with a petrol engine, which will give better performance and more mileage. This model can be launched in mid-segment and premium SUV segment.
Local manufacturing and affordable EVs

Hyundai’s focus is not just on bringing new cars but on making them more local. Local production of battery packs, motors and power electronics will reduce the cost of cars. This will enable Hyundai to offer affordable EV options to Indian customers. Also, the company is working towards increasing production capacity at its Talegaon and Chennai plants.
Impact on industry and customers
This move by Hyundai can bring a big change in the Indian automobile industry. As charging networks strengthen and prices drop, customer trends will shift to EVs. This roadmap of Hyundai can keep the company ahead of the competition amid tough competition from companies like Tata Motors, MG, BYD. EV adoption in rural and small towns will increase as Hyundai plans to strengthen dealer network there as well.
