During the coronavirus outbreak, Kirtana and her family began consuming traditional millets-based meals rather than medications. The outcome was excellent. Rapid progress was made in the family’s health. She found inspiration in this encounter. Kirtana thought that since Millet Startup are so beneficial, more people should have access to the nutritious goods that are derived from them.

A small step took a big flight

This very idea led Kirtana to launch her home-based business, ‘9Nutz’. Three women made up the team, and the initial investment was just ₹50,000. However, the aspirations were lofty. She applied for a loan of ₹5.3 lakh from Hyderabad Bharat Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) to grow her firm. From this point on, her business began to grow.

Gave a new identity to women

In addition to being a corporate venture, Kirtana’s startup is a tale of societal change. In contrast to the past, when her family’s ladies never worked outside, Kirtana is now managing a prosperous business and providing employment for over thirty women. These women are able to choose their own schedules, allowing them to balance professional obligations with childcare and household duties.

More than 100 products made from millets

Presently, the company ‘9Nutz’ operates ten franchisees throughout Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and produces over 100 millets-based goods. These consist of biscuits, chocolates, candies, namkeen, laddus, and nutritious protein snacks. None of these goods contain refined sugar, maida, or rice or wheat. They contribute to the reduction of lifestyle diseases in addition to enhancing people’s health.

International recognition and national appreciation

The fact that Kirtana received the ‘Young Kirtana Entrepreneur Award’ from BYST in London is a testament to the success of this 2020 startup. In addition, he recently showcased his goods at the India Habitat Center in Delhi for the JRD Tata Award 2025 program. This time, he received accolades from Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who visited his stall.

An example for the youth

By providing loans totaling more than ₹ 820 crore, BYST has so far established connections with over 20 lakh young people nationwide and generated over 5 lakh jobs. Narratives such as Kirtana’s demonstrate that any young person may become a job giver rather than a job seeker with the correct guidance and commitment.

Kirtana’s success shows that no matter what the circumstances, if the thinking is clear and the courage is high, change is possible. Today her annual turnover is more than ₹ 2 crore and she has become an inspiration to thousands of people.
